In Memoriam of Apostle Woodrow Anderson
In loving remembrance of a devoted son, husband, father and grandfather whose life reflected the heart of a true servant of God. His lovingly firm and steadfast leadership shaped the lives of all who were blessed to know him.
Woodrow was born and raised in Opp, Alabama to the late Eliza Anderson and Rev. James T. Anderson. As one of six total siblings, their upbringing was rooted deeply in Christianity and guided by their loving mother who instilled in all of them the teachings of Jesus Christ. He lived life with humility, unwavering faith, and unique personality. His innate determination gave him a genuinely inquisitive mind about many aspects of life, ultimately leading him to move down to Palmetto, Florida in his teenage years.
He believed deeply in the power of education. His educational ventures throughout his life included registration as a lobbyist for Florida labor unions, earned diplomas in electronics, civil and criminal investigation, insurance investigations, and Legal Assistant/Paralegal from Blackstone School of Law. Woodrow professed Christ as his Lord and Savior in his late teens and thereafter became ordained as a minister in 1967. He then went on to earn his diploma in advance Bible studies through American Bible College in 1984. He then completed and earned his Graduate of Theology from Trinity College of the Bible in 1992. Woodrow retired from Tropicana after 34 years of leadership and dedicated service as labor union Treasurer in 2007. His passion for learning, especially studying the Bible, was always front and center during his entire life.
Woodrow was previously married to the late Alma J. Anderson, with whom he shared 47 years of partnership, faith, and family. Together they raised four amazing children. In 2010, he was happy to find companionship once more when he married Inez Anderson. Their union brought more than 15 beautiful years filled with joy, mutual respect, and unwavering care. Both marriages shaped his life in profound ways, surrounding him with love and an abundance of family that carried him through over the years and gave him the gift of endless laughter and memories.
He consistently demonstrated living a clean, honorable life and emphasized the importance of building strong character. His lessons, spoken and unspoken, became guiding principles for his children, grandchildren, family, congregations, and all who looked up to him. He led by example, teaching those around him to be kind and respectable, to carry themselves with dignity, and to present themselves well in every setting. His wisdom, his devotion to those he loved, and his unwavering commitment to doing what was right will remain as an everlasting light for all those who loved him.
Woodrow was also preceded in death by his son, Woodrow “Woodie” Anderson, sisters Foya Williams, Louis Anderson Nelson, Dora Anderson Mays, brother Eddie Anderson, Sr., and stepdaughter Annette Simmons.
