Betty Jean Hammonds was born September 16,1933, in Palmetto, Florida to the late Norman Walker and Letha Mays Walker. Betty went to Manatee County Public Schools. She attended Greater St. Luke Primitive Baptist Church. She was baptized at an early age. She was a Christian.
Betty worked in the professional field as a janitor and in housekeeping. She was employed by Manatee Memorial Hospital and the Manatee County School Board for many years until her retirement.
She is preceded in death by her father: Norman Walker, mother: Letha Mays Walker; Sisters, Billie Crawford, Christelle Mitchell; brother: Norman Jr., Sam, Leroy, Willie Joe, Robert Walker; Daughters: Stella Louise Walker Isom and Debbie Sharnett Hammonds; Son: Mark Anthony Hammonds; grandsons: Tyrone Hammonds and Paul Hammonds.
Betty leaves to cherish her memories her sons: Cleveland Hammonds, Jr. (Cynthia), Dwight Leon Hammonds (Gloria),Daryl Dunbar; sisters: Denise (Cleve) Hammonds, Charles(Robert) Zena Dunbar (Tony), Betty Dunbar McNeal (Ernest),Two sisters: Sharon Daniels (Brent) and Elissa Reddick; 27grandchildren and 50+ great-grandchildren 2 great-greatgrandchildren; A special niece, Pandora Wanda Crawford, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and one best friend and a neighbor, Deacon Robert Jones.
