Celebrating the Life of Floyd James Dozier
On Tuesday, June 9, 2026, Floyd James Dozier, age 79, peacefully entered into eternal rest surrounded by the love of family and the grace of God.

Floyd was born on September 24, 1946, in Bradenton, Florida, to the late James Dozier and Massie Bell Smith Dozier. He spent his life rooted in faith, family, hard work, and the community he loved. A lifelong resident of Parrish, Florida, Floyd was known for his warm spirit, quick wit, and ability to make people laugh. Those who knew him understood that spending time with Floyd was always memorable because you never quite knew what was going to come out of his mouth next.

On April 8, 1966, Floyd married the love of his life, Ethel Mae Dozier. Together they built a beautiful life and shared sixty years of love, commitment, faith, and family. Their marriage served as an example of devotion, perseverance, and unconditional love for generations to follow. Together, Floyd and Ethel built a legacy of faith, love, and family that continues through the generations they were blessed to raise and nurture. Through life’s joys and challenges, they remained steadfast partners, demonstrating the true meaning of love, loyalty, and commitment.

Floyd dedicated 35 years of service to Tropicana Products in Bradenton, Florida, before retiring in 2005. He was a hardworking man who took pride in providing for his family and earning the respect of those who worked alongside him. To those who knew him best, Floyd was more than a provider. He was the foundation of his family, a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and faithful friend.

A faithful servant of the Lord, Floyd was a longtime member of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Parrish, Florida, where he remained a devoted member until his passing. Throughout the years, he worshiped under the leadership of the late Reverend James W. Berrien, Reverend John Lang, and most recently Pastor Felix Walters. He faithfully served on the church’s Usher Board and loved being a part of the church family that helped strengthen his walk with Christ.

When he was not spending time with family or serving in church, Floyd could often be found doing the things he loved most. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, watching football, and proudly cheering on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Whether sitting quietly by the water, relaxing on the porch, watching a game, preparing a meal for family, or sharing stories with loved ones, those moments brought him peace and happiness.

Family was Floyd’s greatest joy. He was deeply involved in the lives of his grandchildren, and there was nothing he would not do for those he loved. He would truly give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. His home was a place of laughter, wisdom, stories, and love. Everybody in Parrish seemed to know Floyd, and those fortunate enough to know him will forever remember his jokes, his generosity, and the love he freely shared.

Floyd leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Ethel Mae Dozier; his son, Floyd E Dozier Sr.; his grandchildren, Krishna Dozier, James Davis, Floyd E Dozier Jr., and Naila Dozier; his great-grandchildren, Drakkar Wilson Jr. and Semaj Davis; his goddaughters, Darina Glover and Alicia Claritt; his godsons, Garland (Mijia) Ward of Brandon, Mississippi and Quadene (Nikki) Henderson of Johnson City, Tennessee; his brother, Lloyd (Carol) Dozier of Rochester, New York; his special sisters-in-law, Rosetta Dozier, and Barbara Youmans; his special nephews, Willie James (Sharon) Dozier and Donald Dozier; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and friends who will forever treasure his memory.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Dozier and Massie Bell Dozier; and his brothers, James (Gail) Dozier, Horace Dozier Sr., and Willie E. Dozier.

To his son, he was lovingly known as “Pops.” To his grandchildren and great- grandchildren, he was “Grandaddy.” To his beloved wife, Ethel, he was simply “Honey.” Family members knew him by many affectionate names throughout his life, each reflecting the special bond they shared with him. No matter what he was called, Floyd was known for his generous heart, unwavering love for his family, and his ability to bring laughter into every room he entered.

Floyd found strength and comfort in his faith throughout his life. One of his favorite
hymns was Near the Cross, a song that reflected his devotion to Christ and the hope he carried in his heart. Today, his family finds peace in knowing that he has laid down the burdens of this earthly life and rests safely in the presence of his Savior. “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:23

Earth has no sorrow that Heaven cannot heal.
