Gladys Rumph, was born February 29, 1956, to the late Joseph Cannon, Sr. and Juanita Lewis Cannon in Bradenton, FL. It is with great sadness that the family of Gladys announces her passing on October 21, 2022, peacefully at the age of 66. She will be lovingly remembered. Gladys attended Manatee County Schools and graduated from Southeast
High School. After high school she then went on to receive her degree at Manatee Community College. She later became employed by Manatee County Government where she worked and retired from after working
35 years. She was also a devoted church secretary for the Greater Mount Pilgrim
Primitive Baptist Church. Gladys was very outgoing, outspoken, compassionate and a very generous woman, helping those in need. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was preceded in death by all grandparents, her father; Joseph Cannon, Sr., three brothers Joseph Cannon, Jr., Eugene Cannon, Nathaniel Cannon, Sr. and a host of relatives and friends.
She leaves to cherish her memories her mother: Juanita Cannon; a loving and devoted husband of 43 years, Larry Rumph; two daughters: Lakiesha Rumph and Larrina Simmons (Cameron); four grandchildren: Rikayla Houston, Jhanyce Houston, Zhinaya Houston, and Shamyria Phelps; two grand dogs: Sincere Simmons and Blaze Houston; one great-grandchild to come: Saige Imara; Brothers: Jerry Cannon, Alphonso Cannon (Elizabeth), Charles Cannon, Sr. (Glenda), Willie
Cannon (Cindee); Sisters: Louise Purvis, Faye Cannon, and Gloria Jean Minnis (Adlai). Special friends: Agnes Siplin, Sharon Rawls and Zanthia Monroe. Gladys will forever be remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, mother-in-law, brothers and sisters in law and dear friends.
