Hazel Barnes Obituary

Hazel Ramona Golston Barnes was born March 31, 1948 in Martinez, California. Raised by Mary F. and William Morris. Biological parents, Lolla Bell Roberts and Louis Golston
Hazel was a loyal member of 1st Community Church in Palmetto, FL, where she served in the kitchen, helped cleaned the church and was a willing servant of God.
Hazel visited the sick and shut-in offering encouraging words while giving them comfort by sitting, talking and making them laugh.
Hazel was a long time friend and sister to Lee Arla Hardy and Wanda Oats-Wade, her little sister, her confidant, advisor, and the one she told all her secrets to Vonn Dowlings.
Hazel had two Goddaughters, Shantel Williams and Shionté Branic who she treated no different than her own birth children.
Hazel was a 1967 graduate of Booker High School in Sarasota, FL. She worked as a Sarasota County Dispatcher, worked at the front desk at the Sarasota Health Department, she was employed at Chris Craft running the chopper gun, answered the phone at Answer America, she retired and became the greatest Grandmother in the world. She loved all of her grandchildren.
Many of Hazel family members preceded her in death, they were: Husband, James Barnes, Jr.; Parents who raised her, Mary and William Morris; Biological Parents,, Louis Golston and Lolla Bell Roberts; Jamal (Spunky) Barnes, Son; Grandsons, Calvin Barnes and Dominic Orr.
Hazel leaves to cherish her many loving memories but will meet her in the Kingdom of God at their appointed time, Her Sisters: Virginia Ingram, California, Mary Tucker and Melissa Peterson, both of Chicago, Fayola Collins, Miami, Fl, Linda Turner, Georgia, Lyn Dixon, Cordia James and Darlene Golston, all of Kinky Key, IL; Children: Marie Lee Collins, James D. (Shamika) Barnes, III; Grandchildren: Cecil (Ketura) Crawford, Nakeya Crawford, Jamal Barnes, Nisha, Jazanee (Lil Hazel), Takila, Doninique, James, Jr., BJ, Dion, Cherrell, Tamara, LaFaydra, Andrea, Synai, Jayla, Jayda, Jakelyn, Keira, Samaj, Ja’miya, Joshua, Jakyren, James, Jr., Jaqueza, Jamai, Sam, Demond Shug, Jamecia, Damion, Jamaal, Briana, Rakim, Julio, Jaymes, Neosha, Yesha; Great Grandchildren: Ce’miyah, Ce’monie, Lil Cecil, Ce’Darius, Ce’Nyla, Anajiah, Jermaines, Ja’Marie, Kieran, Elijah, Cailah, Makia, Ja’marie, Anylah, Amorah, Deshaun, Paige, NeekNeek, Zymir, Lilliana, Melanie, Caitlyn, Lil Jamiyah, Jaydah, Maleyah, Madison, Zaiden, D’mari, Demi, Aiden, Clark; Great, Great Grand: Kanai, Kaylyn, Kyng Banks; Goddaughters, Shionté Branic, Shantel Williams; A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and church members.
