James Alvin was born to Elmo and Malissie Rountree
on August 17, 1942 in Valdosta, Georgia. He grew up in Valdosta, Georgia, Athens, Alabama
and Bradenton, Florida.
James Alvin was baptized by his father in 1948. He graduated from The Nashville Christian Institute
in Nashville, Tennessee in 1962. He also attended Southwestern Christian College in Terrell, Texas and The Florida School of Preaching
in Lakeland, Florida.
He honorably served in the United States Air Force. In 1967 James Alvin was united in
holy matrimony to Barbara Lee Hunter.
To this union Donalisa was born.
James Alvin was a radio announcer and draftsman. He was also a bible school teacher and a minister
of the gospel in the Church of Christ. He was a minister in Aragon, Georgia and
the Flatlands congregation in Brooklyn, New York.
James Alvin was an avid sports enthusiast. He was also remembered by his
beautiful penmanship and artwork. He passed away peacefully on
Saturday, December 30, 2023. James Alvin was proceeded in death by his parents and two brothers,
Elmore Jefferson and Marshall Lewis.
He leaves to cherish his memory one daughter, Donalisa (Randy), one granddaughter Tahara (Sidney)
and one great granddaughter, Tasya. Siblings, two sisters, Sherry Rountree Brooks and
Pyandra Rountree and two brothers, Isaac and Eric.
And a host of relatives and friends.
