Karl Leander Sanders was born to the late Mr. Oscar L. Sanders, Jr. and Mrs. Ruth Inez Price Sanders, on October 31, 1957. He was the youngest of four children. Karl was baptized at an early age by Rev. E.W. Carey at Providence Missionary Baptist Church in Palmetto, Florida. Karl was educated in the Manatee County School District, graduating from Palmetto High School in 1975, with honors. Karl went on to attend college at Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida, graduating with Bachelor of Science degree in Banking and Finance in 1979. Karl then enlisted into the United States Navy as an officer. After a fifteen year career in the Navy, he served in the reserves for fifteen years, retiring as a Commander. He then began a career with U.S.A.A., a military based insurance company as an Information Technology Analyst, Karl retired from U.S.A.A. in 2017.
Karl loved his family and was loved by his family immensely! He had a love for nature and science. After retirement, he became an avid gardener, and contributed much research to various animal research projects at home and abroad.
He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar L. Sanders, Jr. and brother, Ernest L. Sanders.
He leaves to cherish his memories, son, Julin, of Memphis, TN; Four grandchildren, Jamya, Julia, Julian and Jukobe, all of Memphis, TN; a loving mother, Ruth “Inez” Sanders of Palmetto, FL; Two sisters, Verna L. Sanders-Garvin and Darlene T. Sanders-Bush, both of Palmetto, FL; Four nieces, Yavonka Sanders, Tarea Bush, Tamra Beaubrun, all of Palmetto, FL and Devon Garvin of Ruskin, FL; Nephews, Kevin Sanders, Bradenton, FL, Zachary Garvin, Sun City, FL; Two great nieces, Gianna and Mia Sanders of Sarasota, FL; One great nephew, Miles Garvin of Sun City, FL; One sister-in-law, Bonita Woodie-Sanders. He also leaves to mourn, a host of cousins and friends.
