LaVern Antionette “Tammie” Green was born
on December 29, 1957, to Minister Thomas Edward Green,
Jr., and the late Carrie Lee Bennett Johnson. She was raised
in Palmetto, Florida, as well as Great Neck, New York. She
graduated from John L. Miller Great Neck Senior High
School with the class of 1976.
While living in New York, Tammie took part in modeling
as well as completing some college with psychology as her
major. She was truly a free-spirited and “tell it like it is”
person with a true love for family and all who she became
close to. She was always the life of the party.
Tammie later returned to Palmetto, Florida, where she
worked various jobs ranging from customer service, call
centers, and the packing house. She worked these various
jobs until her health started to decline and prevented her
from doing so. Tammie accepted Christ as her personal
savior and attended Bible Baptist Church, until walking
became an issue and she was no longer able to do so.
Tammie was preceded in death by her mother, Carrie Lee
Bennett Johnson; grandmothers, Ada Lee Wilson and
Sarah Green; sisters, Patricia Green (her favorite sister) and
Treacy Green; aunts, Jean Leach and Lee Bennett; uncle,
Edgar Reshard, Sr.; cousin, Edgar Reshard, Jr.; and bonus
son, Samuel Edwards.

and Deon Edwards; grandchildren, Anthony Johnson,
Zenai (Sweet Pea) Reed, Layla (her birthday twin) Johnson,
Matthias Wilson, Jae Johnson, and Kanaan Valentine;
