Leroy Pompey

Leroy Pompey was born on 12/29/1944 to Poley & Lola Carrie Pompey in West Palm Beach, FL. Leroy enlisted in the Army as a 1st Airborne Division soldier and became a paratrooper by the age of 21. He served from Nov. 15, 1965 – Nov. 14. 1968. He retired from Loving Construction company at the age of 62. He spent his time doing what he loved most as an outdoorsman. Fishing, hunting, and taking trips while listening to country music. His favorite eating spots were Burger King and the Waffle house. If he wasn’t doing those things, he would enjoy spending time with the ones he loved the most. Kicking back with family and friends in front of the big oak tree in his yard. 

Leroy Pompey, you will be truly missed by many. We will always love you and want to thank you for bringing us up the hard way. We didn’t understand then, but certainly understand it now. May the Lord bless you and the angels blow their trumpets as you enter the pearly gates of heaven. We love you and miss you so much dad!.

He is survived by, Children: Marie (Lee) Collins, Bradenton, FL; Ronald Pompey, Albany, New York: Lamont Sr & (Crystal) Pompey, Orange City, FL.; Eric Pompey Sr., Bradenton, FL.  and Patrick Green*god son*, Bradenton, FL. Grand Children: Nakeya, Cecil & Cherelle Crawford, Lamont Jr., & (Sammy) Pompey Treyvon & Mahari Pompey Eric Lee Pompey & Ericka Pompey.  19 Great Grandchildren: and 3 1/2 Great, great Grandchildren:  Sisters: Helen & (James JR) Dexter and Lois Moore.  He was Preceded in death by his  Wife – Thelma Pompey, Father and Mother - Poley & Carrie Pompey.  Sisters – Mary Dell, Ester Clark, Catherine (AKA Heavy), Beatrice Davis, Marie Pompey, L.C. Pompey In-Laws – Priestley & Maybell Pompey.
