We celebrate the life today of Lonnie Jerome Mazon, Sr. “Bulb” who was born May 16, 1962 to the late Harold and Hester Richardson Mazon. He grew up in the small town of Boardman, Florida and he was one of nine children.
He attended the public schools Collier Elementary, North Marion Middle, and North Marion High in Marion County and he completed his education in Job Corps in Alachua County.
He was converted at an early age at Zion Bethel Missionary Baptist in Boardman, Florida under the leadership of Reverend Elmer. He moved to Sarasota, Florida in 1980 and later upon meeting and marrying Wanda Elaine Bell, he came live in Palmetto, Florida. Upon living in Manatee County, he joined Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist church under the leadership of the late Reverend Henry Washington who ordained him as a deacon.
He worked for Manatee County, City of Sarasota, Walmart and the Bait House and he retired from Manatee County.
He loved fishing and loved spending time and talking with people. He always had to be busy doing something. He really loved his grandchildren and spending time with them. He loved his church and would often visit and help the sick.
He leaves to cherish his memory: a loving and devoted wife, Wanda Elaine Mazon; three sons, Lonnie Mazon, Jr., (Sieara Williams), Joshua Mazon (Shakima Sanders), and Jeremy Mazon; one daughter, Joquista Mazon; fourteen grandchildren, La’Dainian, Lavonte, Ja’Syiah, Joshua Jr., Khy’Liyah, Lhy’Mani, Landon, Shyla, Bella, Khalil, Amir Barnes, Ja’Riah Firby, Ja’Kyra Firby, and Ja’Zion Firby; one daughter-in-law, Iesha Mazon; seven god-children, Ebony Bell, Tynisha Hodo, Irene Chandler, Ariel Miller, Gerald Baskin, Jatorrion Mathis, and Janira Lee; eight living siblings, Robert Lee Richardson, Gloria Harris, Rev.
