Mother Mary Elizabeth Hillman Burston, born on September 6, 1934, in Devereux, Georgia to the late King David Ingram and Everlean Hillman Scott. Mary attended public school in Hancock County. Being raised by her grandparents, Mr. Isaiah Hillman and Susie Hillman.
She worked from a young girl picking cotton and assisting her step grandmother Susie in her café after her step grandmother demise. Mary had become partial owner with her grandfather and managed the café. After graduation from high school, she met the love of her life, Johnnie Burston and soon moved to Bradenton, FL. To this marriage, 5 children were born, Johnnie A. Burston Jr, Melvin F. Burston (Monica), Bobby C. Burston (deceased), Glenda K. Cannon (Charles), and Joseph J. Burston.
Mary accepted Jesus Christ completely in her life February 12, 1975, after just being a Church attendee for many years. Life was never the same again, that was the best thing that ever happened to her. She worked independently cleaning houses for a while. Mary obtained her nursing certification as a CNA and worked for Westminister Towers for 12 years and various other in private nursing jobs. Mary also owned and managed her own thrift store.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents and grandparents; Husband: Johnnie Burston; Sisters: Lillie Mae Boyd, and Carrie Mae Horne; Brothers: Joe Hillman, Randy Scott, and Robert Hillman; and son: Bobby C. Burston.
Mary is survived by 3 sons and 1 daughter; Son in love: Charles; Sisters: Min. Everlean Thomas (Bishop James) of Milledgeville, GA, Billie Jean Mingo, of Irwinton, GA, Bobbie N. Smith (Gary) of McIntyre, GA, and Gloria D. Jackson of McIntyre, GA; Brothers: Willie James Scott of Stone Mountain, GA, and Eric B. Scott(Nita) of Perry, FL; 13 Grandchildren: Vincent Davis, Benita A. Davis, Glenda L. Davis, Maurice Brantley, Virginia S. Cannon, Charles I. Cannon(Kendra), Aaron J. Cannon, Sunday Burston, Melvin Burston Jr., Elijah J. Burston, and David J. Burston(Ren); A host of Greatgrandchildren, Great-Great-grandchildren, Great-GreatGreat grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, church family and friends; and a beloved friend Rose Rome.
