Raymond Barnes, 85 of Palmetto, Florida was born December 11, 1938 to the late Nancy Alice Barnes and Joe Grissett, Sr. He passed away on January 24, 2024 at Tidewell Hospice -Bradenton Hospice House. He attended Lincoln Memorial High School in Palmetto, Florida. He married Barbara Barnes on June 11, 1960; to beautiful children, Sherri and Kim, made their union perfect. Raymond also raised his youngest sister, Vicky as his third daughter. He moved to Rochester New York in 1960 and worked for Eastman Kodak for 25 years. He returned to Manatee County in 2013 to enjoy retirement.
He leaves to cherish his sweet memories: wife, Barbara Barnes;daughters Sherri (Michael) Ruffin, Kimberly (Andrew) Ellis, and sister/daughter, Vicky McMillian. Siblings: Joe Grissett, Vanzetta (Rodney) Gibson, Benjamin (Cynthia) McMillian and a special friend of the family Ron McCall. Grandchildren: Michael Ruffin, Marcus Birdsong, Milik (Kaylin) Ruffin, Ahmirr (Destiny) Ellis, Ahmaad Ellis, Andrew Ellis, Jr. and Colby Ellis. 15 Great-Grandchildren and many other lovingfamily members, church family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. Thursday, February 1, 2024. Celebration of Life on Friday, February 2, 2024. Both are at St Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 525 Dr, Martin Luther King Avenue East, Bradenton, Florida 34208.
