Thelma P. Hayward, born June 6, 1949, in Salisbury, Maryland, to Myrtle Powell. Thelma was reared by James and Martha Woodie in Palmetto, Florida. She received her education in the Manatee County school system at Lincoln Memorial School. Thelma was a grandmother and a cherished friend to many throughout her life. Her infectious spirit touched all who knew her, and she was always "the life of the party." Thelma will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Martha Woodie, and her brother, Michael Woodie. Thelma is survived by her three children: Donald A. Smith Jr. (Tammila) of Bradenton, FL, Natashia D. Gibson (Gaylord) of Palmetto, FL, and Martha Ann Felder of Atlanta, GA. Also mourning her passing are her mother, Myrtle Powell of Philadelphia, PA; twelve grandchildren: Donald A. Smith III (Paige) of Clearwater, FL, Christopher D. Smith of Jacksonville, FL, Dwight A. Sutton Jr. of Harrodsburg, KY, Ariel D. Barnes of Daytona, FL, Rashuad L. Hill, Bryan R. Smith, Quint L. Callaway, Shambrea L. Scott, Krystyl A. Williams, Jordan D. Smith (all of Bradenton, FL), Kamiya R. Davis of Tallahassee, FL, and Jana S. Brice of Atlanta, GA; one sister, Barbara Woodie-Thomas of Tampa, FL; thirty great-grandchildren; Two aunts, Janie Davis (Aaron), Lillian Woodie-Sims (both of Bradenton, FL), a "Special Friend," Lorenzo McNeal of Bradenton, FL; her beloved fur baby, "RoscoeHayward"; and a host of other relatives/friends.
