Willie Charles Cummings, Jr. was born on April 30, 1969, in Lynwood, California
to Patricia Lee and Willie Cummings, Sr. He departed this life December 31, 2024,
at Sarasota Memorial Hospital. He grew up in Los Angeles County, California and
graduated in 1987 from Jordan High School in Lynwood, CA. After graduation, he
joined the Job Corp in Clearfield, Utah. And in 1988, he then joined the United
States Coast Guard, where he served honorably and was discharged in 1991.
Willie was a member of St. Mary’s Missionary Baptist Church under the pastor-
ates of the late Rev. Dr. Fletcher Lawson, Jr. and current pastor, Rev. Ricky Ste-
phens. He assisted in the Youth and Children Ministry and was affectionately
called “Security”. Willie’s life and career as a truck driver took him all over the
United States and he lived in multiple states. He finally settled in Bradenton, Flor-
ida, whereby he started Adam’s Garden Lawn Service.
Willie had a passion for bowling, and he loved to sing but he found his true pas-
sion when he found Jesus. He devoted his life to serving God. He loved reading
and studying the Bible and understanding it application to his life. He was a long-
time member of the North River Prayer Breakfast group, who met weekly to pray
for the sick, marginalized and any matter needing prayer.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Lee, father, Willie Cummings,
Sr., brother, Robert Bernard Swain, and wife, Farrah Cummings. Special Thanks to
Sis. Gloria Law and Dr. David Dean.
Willie battled several medical conditions including cancer; his cancer was in re-
mission, but after a long hard fight, he lost his battle. Willie leaves behind to cher-
ish his memories his daughter, Raven Cummings, Billings Montana, son, Private
First Class Jerimiah Cummings, US Army, Ft. Bliss Texas, step-son, Logan Vale; sis-
ters, Sharon Celeste Smith, Tina Todd; brothers, Richard Garey Swain Sr., Joshua
Todd; uncle John Wesley Moore Jr.; Aunts, Betty Cumming Johnson, Elnora Cum-
mings Walker (Punkin); cousins, Kenneth Tillman, and Sheila Gay; nephews,
Rolando Douglas, and Richard Swain Jr.; former wives, Sabina Harmon and Jackie
Cummings and many other nieces, nephews and relatives.
